HSBC extends availability of Rate Matcher mortgage

HSBC has extended its Rate Matcher mortgage deal to 29 June 2008.

HSBC’s Rate Matcher mortgage – which was introduced in April – is available to all UK homeowners whose fixed-rate mortgage period matures before 31 August 2008. The deal aims to match two-year fixed rates of 4.54% or more for a further two years, with a maximum loan-to-value of 80%, or £250,000. Borrowers will be subject to a fee depending on the size of the loan and interest rate.

HSBC head of mortgages, Martijn van der Heijden, said: “While the mortgage market remains challenging for borrowers, extending the availability of our Rate Matcher mortgage means we can offer many customers an alternative to significantly higher monthly mortgage repayments.”
