A two-bed Victorian terraced house in South East London, which was the home of silent film star Charlie Chaplin, has come onto the market for the first time for a decade.

Chaplin lived in the period property in Methley Street, Kennington, in his early childhood. The brick-fronted mews house, complete with official blue plaque, is part of the Charlie Chaplin Tourist Walk, and is surrounded by references made throughout biographies of his life and work.

Methley Street is said to have been the inspiration for his film The Kid and is also situated next to the City Lights Court factory building named after Chaplin’s 1939 film, City Lights.

The property is being marketed by Kinleigh, Folkard and Hayward and comes with a price tag of £650,000.
