Havering is the top location for Help to Buy mortgages in London, with 375 completions since the scheme’s launch.

Research compiled by Totally Money found the outer London borough has seen 375 Help to Buy sales in the two years since it launched.

Croydon was the second most popular district with 242 completions while Bromley has reached 222 completions in this time.

However, in four London boroughs no Help to Buy sales were completed. These were Camden, Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster.

The firm said Help to Buy was ‘clearly a failure’ in these areas.

Outside of the capital Leicester was the most popular location for Help to Buy, with 892 completions in the last two years.

However, some 60% of English postcodes have yet to see any Help to Buy completions, 1,261 out of the 2,117 total.

In total 52,691 house purchases across England have taken advantage of the scheme. The MK42 postcode area in Bedford has seen 309 completions alone.
