An estimated 36% of British homeowners would be willing to make environmentally friendly improvements to their property to ensure a faster sale, according to recent research.

Baxi, a domestic heating specialist, emphasised that it is compulsory for all properties on the market to have a Home Information Pack (HIP) which includes an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). It laid out some simple improvements homeowners can make so their homes are more environmentally appealing to prospective buyers.

Top tips for homeowners, according to Baxi, include using energy efficient bulbs, installing insulation on the hot water cylinder and fitting thermostatic radiator valves to control temperatures in each room.

Lee Robinson, customer service director at Baxi, said:”Changes need not be drastic to be a good selling point. Things such as putting an insulation jacket on your hot water cylinder or bleeding radiators can all help to cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and reduce household bills for future householders.”
