Loud and anti-social neighbours are the biggest turn-off for househunters.

According to research carried out by online estate agent Primelocation.com, 57% of potential property purchasers said that noisy neighbours would put them off buying.

Those in the East and North East of England are the most bothered by antisocial neighbours (61%), while Londoners are the least concerned (52%).

Overall, 28% of househunters would look unfavourably on scruffy gardens, while 8% say they would not buy a property with a bus stop outside.

Security is cited as the a very important factor when choosing a ‘prime’ new home, with security gates and cameras identified as being more important than swimming pools, tennis courts and walk-in wardrobes.

Lawrence Hall of Primelocation.com, said:

“Discerning buyers don’t simply look for a good location but want to live in a good neighbourhood too. The quality of the neighbours and the security of the property are both clearly important factors for ‘prime’ buyers.”
