Yorkshire Building Society has launched a two-year fixed rate of 2.38% for borrowers with a 10% deposit, aimed at first-time buyers.

The first-time buyer deal has a £1,345 fee or borrowers can choose from a fee-free option at 3.09%, or a lower fee deal (£845) at 2.49%.

Plus a free valuation and £250 cashback come as standard with the new range of first-time buyer 90% loan-to-value mortgages.

Brendan Gilligan, mortgages manager for the mutual, said: “These new fixed-rate mortgages are designed to help people with low deposits buy the home of their dreams, with the added security of knowing what their monthly repayments will be for the next 24 months.

“As a financially sustainable mutual with no external shareholders, we know how important it is to help first-time buyers to get onto the housing ladder.”
