Leeds Building Society has extended its range of mortgages which offer an initial interest-free period to borrowers.

The mutual launched its ‘Welcome’ mortgages at the start of the month, which offer borrowers a three-or six-month interest-free period at the start of the period in order to help with the costs of moving home.

Three-and five-year variants were available from launch but now, following feedback from the intermediary sector, the building society has extended the range to include a two-year fixed rate product.

As part of the changes both the three- and five-year Welcome products have been reduced along with their equivalent standard products.

Leeds Building Society sales and marketing director Kim Rebecchi said: “Our intermediary partners also wanted a two-year version, and this is exactly what we have delivered, whilst ensuring that the cost is broadly the same as our standard two-year fixed.

“All these products deliver certainty at an affordable rate and are excellent options for purchasers.”
