40% of the UK’s 4.6m  self-employed workers believe that their status has lowered their chances of being accepted for a homeloan, according to research. A study carried out by specialist lender Precise Mortgages found that only 5% of self-employed people believe that access to mortgages has improved significantly for them. Happily, that picture is changing, with more specialist lenders who understand self-employed finances accepting cases and underwriting them on a case-by-case basis.
