Builder Bovis Homes Group returned profits up 150% to the end of June and plans to accelerate its annual completions to 6,000 this year and next.

The group sold 3,530 homes in H1, against 2,505 in the equivalent period in 2013.

The average sales price for 2014 legal completions is expected to be between £210,000 and £215,000.

The group is set to reward shareholders with dividends per share of 35p, a 200% increase on last year. It said it also expects to hit annual volumes of between 5,000 and 6,000 new homes this year and next.

David Ritchie, chief executive of Bovis Homes Group, said: “In the first half of 2014 the Group has delivered a record number of legal completions leading to a 150% increase in operating profit. This significant increase is the result of the compound positive effect of increased volumes, improved average sales price and stronger profit margins.”

Driven on by government subsidy through the Help to Buy 1 scheme, builder results continue to impress this year with all the larger building firms outperforming.

Labour announced plans to drive on the building resurgence with support for smaller firms via a Help to Build Scheme pledging to underwrite bank loans to small housebuilders to aid business growth.
